Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is in the hunt for TWO midfield signings this month.

The Daily Star says the Gunners are closing in on Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho and St Etienne's Loic Perrin.

Both midfielders have been repeatedly linked with moves to the Emirates in recent months, and several publications have claimed Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of the defensive midfielders, who have attracted interest from a host of Europe's top clubs.

And sources in Spain have suggested the Frenchman is about to swoop for the combative duo, who are reportedly wanted by the Gunners' Premier League rivals Manchester United.
