Arsenal boss Wenger furious with scheduling

Arsene Wenger has blasted the organisation of football's men-in-charge, who he blames for forcing his Arsenal side to play catch-up.

The Gunners travel to the Czech Republic for a Champions League qualifier with Sparta Prague in mid-week, whilst their Premier League competitors tackle their second domestic fixture.

Wenger has therefore suggested that the Premier League's opening weekend is moved to accommodate those who face European clashes, and says the current system is 'unfair'.

Wenger told The Sun: "Playing a European qualifier in the first week is a big problem when there are other Premier League matches. We will be chasing to get the points back.

"After three games, you can be mid-table if you don't win the first game. That gives you a big disadvantage and it is unfair.

"Why could we not start the league one week earlier? It is not ideal. So it is very important not to get off to a slow start."
