Arsenal boss Wenger fears World Cup burnout for players

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits fears of burnout for his World Cup players.

The Gunners squad boasts many potential World Cup stars.

"The World Cup will dominate the summer but I believe the big problem is that the gap between the end of the tournament and the start of the new season is too short," said Wenger.

"It is nearly impossible for any player in the world to play the World Cup final on July 11 and still be hungry to play again on August 14. There's so much pressure and you need so much recovery time that it's unfair on the players and consequently the clubs."
