Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has defended the quality of the Premier League.
There has been talk of a power shift taking place in Europe, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City all trailing 2-0 from the first legs of their respective ties.
"I believe that the English league is the toughest in Europe," Wenger said. "I believe you see the power of the domestic leagues more through the group stages than a direct knockout situation.
"On the other hand it is very difficult to judge. Man City played with 10 men, we played with 10 men [in the first legs].
"Bayern are a special team, I don't deny that, but they are in a huge dominating situation in Europe. They can play who they want the week before the game in Europe, and they win 3-1 or 4-1.
"The danger now is that in Europe you might have a two-tier European Cup. You have eight to 10 clubs who can win the European Cup and the rest have no chance."
