Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is unhappy with his board over their bid for Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Andrei Arshavin.
The Mail on Sunday says Arshavin is not certain to join the club after sources at Zenit St Petersburg said Arsenal's initial offer for the player fell well below the Russian club's valuation of 20million euros.
Although Wenger is unlikely to leave Arsenal, a rift is developing between him and the club's directors after money promised for the January transfer window failed to materialise.
The massive decline in sterling and a tightening of budgets at Arsenal mean Wenger will have to sell if he wants to buy more than one player in the transfer window. Even Arshavin may now be beyond their reach.
