Arsenal boss Wenger explains Ozil absence for Burnley win; happy with Wilshere 'burst'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits a virus forced Mesut Ozil out of their clash with Burnley.

Wenger revealed a late call was made for Ozil to return to London before the win.

He said, "I haven't even seen him, the doctor came to see me and said we had to travel him back today. He was in the hotel with us. He travelled up and travelled back and we brought Maitland-Niles, who arrived at 1pm because we were only 17 [without Mesut]. Will he be available for Wednesday? Certainly he will be short for Wednesday."

Wenger called in Jack Wilshere and was happy with the midfielder's performance.

"I feel he did alright when he came on because he had that little burst to be dangerous. I think he is focused, determined and that's what we want from him. We play so many games that he is getting up and stronger in every game."
