Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is delighted with Jack Wilshere's preseason progress.
Eight weeks after undergoing surgery on a persistent ankle problem, the England midfielder passed a 25-minute workout in a tropical downpour.
Now manager Arsene Wenger is confident Wilshere is firmly on course to be fully fit for next month's opening Premier League game against Aston Villa.
Wenger said: "Jack is not short power-wise because he has done a lot of work on that front but is a little bit short on the cardiovascular front.
"That's why we tried to give him 25 minutes tonight, 45 minutes next week, then an hour and hopefully a full game at the Emirates Cup.
"We'll have to see how he responds but he has a good chance for the Villa game."
