Arsenal boss Wenger delighted with Song's creative edge

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says there's more to Alex Song's game than his defensive side.

Song's creativity came to the fore last season.

"I thought about that Fulham game [in 2006, when Song was taken off at half time]," said Wenger. "It shows that players need to be given time and confidence. Unfortunately in the big clubs you cannot always do it. He is one of the players who surprised everybody. You wouldn't expect what he delivers at the moment. He looks to me also to be a creative player.

"He was a centre back, but him and Andre Santos are players who look like they could play in creative midfield."
