Arsenal boss Wenger delighted with early Chamakh impact

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is delighted with the way Marouane Chamakh has settled since his arrival from Bordeaux.

Wenger is now expected to unleash Chamakh on Europe on Wednesday night with Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner both injured. And the Frenchman has every faith in his summer signing.

"He has done very well," Wenger told arsenal.com.

"I believe he has a love for the physical game, a love for challenges. He loves contact, he is good in the air and when you jump high, no matter if it is in Japan or England, if you jump higher than your opponent then you get the ball with your head.

"I believe that he is an intelligent player as well and he has adapted quickly because he is a real team player. He likes to work for the team, so even if he misses one or two things, he does so much that overall his contribution is very high."

Chamakh has already impressed on the pitch and, according to Wenger, he is showing all the right signs off it too.

"Off the field he adapts well [to England] but he is a guy who loves to be with the team, with his team-mates. He can be happy everywhere," said the manager.
