Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists he's under no pressure to buy today.

Its understood Wenger HAS made an approach to Chelsea for Michael Essien, but a loan switch does appear a long shot.

"We have resources available so if it is not happening now it will happen in December," said Wenger.

"We believe strongly that we have the quality in our squad to do very well. We don't just want to bring average players in. Spending in itself is not a quality. Buying better than you have is a quality."
