Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dropped his interest in Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira.

The Mail on Sunday says Wenger has cooled on the recruitment of Patrick Vieira, which was being seriously considered last week.

Instead, he will urge Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas to step up as the leaders in the dressing room and in big games rather than turn to the 33-year-old former captain.
