Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed plans for new signing Konstantinos Mavropanos to leave on-loan.

Mavropanos joined the Gunners earlier this week, joining in a £2.2million deal.

The rookie defender - a Greece Under-21 international - only made his first-team debut for PAS Giannina back in April.

“The plan is for him to go on loan," declared Wenger on Friday morning. "I prefer him to play at the top level and gain experience.

"He is 20 years old and is not ready to start for us."

It's understood that German side Werder Bremen are the most likely destination for the young centre-half.
