Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident skipper Thomas Vermaelen will shake off his form crisis.

Wenger reckons the Belgian international defender returned to form at Everton in midweek when his sterling performance helped earn a 1-1 draw.

Wenger said: "It was certainly his best game since the start of the season.

"And this will boost his confidence - and hopefully get out of his mind what happened before when he was not completely confident.

"He was physically sharp, confident in his display, calm and he was important for us at Everton."
