Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident of securing Sol Campbell to a new deal.
The London Evening Standard says Wenger has delayed his pursuit of another centre-back as he believes Campbell will remain in north London to fight for a first-team place.
Although reports had suggested Campbell was leaning towards a move to Sunderland, manager Steve Bruce today had a £1million bid accepted for Wigan defender Titus Bramble, suggesting they had turned their attentions elsewhere.
Campbell continues to hold great affection for Arsenal, and Wenger believes the faith showed in bringing him back from the wilderness following his calamitous one-game spell at Notts County will be reciprocated.
