Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger fancies signing two new strikers.
The Mirror says Wenger made tentative enquiries about the availability of number one target, Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, but has been told that there is no chance of him leaving in January.
But Wenger remains confident of signing the Moroccan on a Bosman-style free transfer next summer after his contract with Bordeaux runs out. Chamakh is keen on Arsenal ahead of interest from Everton and Tottenham.
But Wenger is still considering signing a striker in January to boost his options with Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner out injured and Eduardo out of form.
Wenger's first option is Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko but the German club's £20m asking price and interest from AC Milan is a major stumbling block. Toulouse forward Andre-Pierre Gignac also appeals.
