Lyon midfielder Max Gonalons is one of several midfield targets for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The Mirror says Wenger is desperate for a holding midfielder and his scouts have been scouring Europe and Gonalons is now on that shortlist.

They have also watched Toulouse's Etienne Capoue and West Ham's Mohamed Diame was on their radar in January.

But Gonalons will now be under even greater scrutiny as Arsenal believe he could be the answer - but they must see if he fits the bill.
