Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits he fancied signing Aston Villa pair Ashley Young and Gareth Barry.
Wenger said: "Young was quite expensive - £11million when he was playing at Watford. And Gareth Barry was even more expensive.
"(Villa chairman Randy) Lerner deserves credit - even more now the dollar has dropped!"
