Arsenal and Tottenham slug it out in today's derby and Wenger claims it could decide which of the two ends up in the top four come May.
The Gunners boss said: "For some time, we were winning championships and Spurs were not in the top four at all, so of course they've got closer in recent years.
"Fortunately we managed always to get above them.
"They have a good side every year and they are always a team who are now fighting with us.
"Certainly the results in the two derbies can have a big influence on the qualifying spots for the Champions League.
"To be in the top four, it's important to beat Tottenham. It has an emotional impact as well."
