Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits Per Mertesacker is likely to miss the Euros for Germany with his ankle injury.

The German defender, 27, has not played since tumbling in agony at Sunderland last month and is now likely to miss Euro 2012.

Wenger said: "I believe Per will be out for the rest of the season.

"Basically there are only six weeks to go so I don't think he'll be sharp enough to come back and play. He would need to train and get back to full fitness."
