Arsenal boss Wenger admits Lehmann unhappy with omission

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits Jens Lehmann was upset with his decision to leave him out of the team for today's clash with Bolton Wanderers.

Wenger said: "I want him to play in the European Championship of course but I can only make decisions which are right for Arsenal Football Club. I think I'm right."

Wenger did little to refute suggestions that the volatile German had reacted angrily to the news.

"I cannot come out more about that because we can speak all day," said the Frenchman. "What is important is to speak of those who play. Those who can help Arsenal are those who play, not those who don't.

"What is important is not what is behind me but what's in front of me," said the Arsenal manager. "It's like a player saying I deserve to play because of what I've done for this club. That's not true. You deserve to play for your performance in the last game and I deserve to be in charge for the performance of my team in the last game."
