Arsenal boss Emery convinced Cech ahead of Leno

Arsenal boss Unai Emery will stand by Petr Cech for Sunday's blockbuster at Chelsea.

The Daily Star says Cech struggled to adapt to Arsenal's new style and almost scored a comical own goal in the 2-0 opening game defeat to Manchester City

The veteran looked all at see and did not look a natural as the Gunners adopted the tactic of keeping possession close to their goal.

But Bernd Leno - signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £22.5m in the summer - has failed to convince Emery and his coaching staff that he's ready to step in for such a key game.

Cech, 36, was made skipper by Emery for the City game and is poised to keep the armband on his return to Stamford Bridge.
