Arsenal have made a major offer for Auxerre fullback Bakari Sagna.

The Times says Arsenal have offered about £6million for Sagna. The Auxerre defender was named the players' player of the year in his position in France last season.

Sagna is determined to leave Auxerre, threatening not return to the club for pre-season. He wants a move to improve the chance of playing for France, after being named in the squad for the first time this month. He was an unused substitute against Georgia ten days ago.
