Arsenal are battling to reach terms with Roma over a deal for Wojciech Szczesny.
Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed Roma are considering pursuing Spanish keeper Diego Lopez instead of the former Arsenal No.1.
Lopez is leaving current club AC Milan this summer and could be a solution to the Italian's side vacancy.
Szczesny was cast aside by Arsenal after a turbulent 2014/15 season where he was fined for smoking in the changing rooms after a mistake-ridden performance against Southampton.
The 26-year-old did nothing to cool relations between himself and the London club earlier this year when he claimed he'd learnt more in four months at Roma than he had in 10 years at Arsenal.
