Arsenal attacker Walcott urges England youngsters to grab chance

Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott believes England youngsters have a great chance to establish themselves under coach Roy Hodgson.

Walcott has been involved with England since making the World Cup squad as a 17 year-old seven years ago.

"It is a great opportunity for the youngsters coming into the squad to take their chance," he said. "I came in at such a young age and scored a hat-trick against Croatia. Anyone could do that against Moldova or Ukraine.

"There are chances there to be taken and if you are good enough the manager is going to play you. We have a good balance now between the young and the experienced players. It is starting to show in the way we are playing at Wembley and it is only going to be a good thing for England to see these youngsters coming through.

"It is very important to get to know the players and the staff. It only helps when you go to tournaments.

"It helped me. I went to the World Cup and I didn't feature but I knew what to expect in the next tournament. I worked hard and these guys are working very hard. They are very bubbly.

"To come into the England set-up and feel like one of the older players is quite surreal to be honest. It's exciting times because the balance in this team is very fresh and a lot of players play with no fear.

"In the past when we have played at Wembley that might have been a factor but now its not and that is only going to be a good thing for England."
