Arsenal have made a move for Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella.
The London Evening Standard says a number of clubs are monitoring the 30 year-old with Shakhtar Donetsk, West Ham, Sunderland and Norwich amongst them but the Gunners are desperate to bolster their attacking options.
Quagliarella has more than 20 caps for Italy but has found himself competing against new signings Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente for a place in the Serie A champions' line up.
It comes as Arsenal confirmed that German attacker Lukas Podolski could be out of action for up to 10 weeks with a hamstring injury.
