Arsenal have revealed via Twitter that striker Danny Welbeck has had surgery on his right knee and full recovery will take approximately nine months.

The 25-year-old England international was injured during Sunday's match at Manchester City and specialists determined surgery was required after scans and tests revealed significant cartilage damage.

Welbeck will miss the Euro 2016 Championship in the summer and has tweeted confirmation of surgery with "I will be back stronger!"
