Arsenal aim to trump Tottenham for Juventus outcast Amauri

Arsenal are competing with Tottenham for Juventus striker Amauri. The Daily Star says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants Amauri to provide back up for Robin Van Persie.

However the striker, who was born in Brazil but plays Italy, would favour a move to White Hart Lane - who are third in the Barclays Premier League.

Manager Harry Redknapp is looking to strengthen his side in order to mount a serious title challenge next year.

Redknapp thinks Spurs can win the Barclays Premier League this season if they maintain their excellent recent form.
