Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Saint-Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

Manchester City, Tottenham and Sunderland are following him closely, but French sources say Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had a scout posted to see Matuidi in action against Monaco on Sunday.

Wenger sees Matuidi's all-action style as an ideal foil for midfield playmaker Cesc Fabregas.
