Manchester United striker Welbeck was the Three Lions goal hero in Kiev.
And Walcott told The Sun: "Danny has got that quality in his locker and I'm sure there will be a lot to come from him.
"If people haven't heard about Danny in this tournament, they will know about him now. It had everything that goal. The chance was massive and Danny made it look too easy.
"It was class, probably one of the best goals at this tournament - and I am not just saying that because he's my friend.
"It shows that despite being at such a young age he can do it. Danny can score goals. Not just him, but Andy, too.
"We've got players to come off the bench and we have a lot of firepower in this squad.
"I am sure Wayne Rooney will get his opportunity He'll want to make up for time he's missed, he'll want to make it up to all the lads, he is such a world-class player and it'll be tough to leave him out but that's the manager's decision. We'll see what happens."
