Manchester City are ready to make Arsenal captain Robin van Persie the highest paid player in the Premier League. The Sunday Times says a mega £210,000-a-week contract is in the offing for the Arsenal hitman.

The deal, worth £10.9million a year, has been agreed by the Holland international.

An official agreement has not been struck by the clubs with the Gunners desperate to keep hold of their influential captain who has scored 32 goals in 37 games so far this season.

But the 28-year-old will be out of contract at the end of next season in June 2013 and City boss Roberto Mancini has been effusive in his admiration for the in-form frontman.
