Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has defended Arsenal following comments made by Roy Keane.
The former Manchester United suggested on the weekend that the Gunners players are more interested in taking selfies and their appearance than worrying about winning trophies.
But after helping the north Londoners clinch a piece of silverware with a stunning goal in the 1-0 Community Shield triumph over Chelsea on Sunday, 21-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain says those extra-curricular activities are merely part and parcel of today's game as the Gunners strive to break a decade-plus barren league title run.
"It's a new era, isn't it? Some people do it, some don't," said 'The Ox'.
"We're serious about winning trophies. Personally, and I can speak for the rest of the squad, we've been serious every single year I've been at the club about winning trophies.
"You can see that on the pitch. A lot of people don't see when we lose and go through tough times how upset and disappointed we are. We've always wanted to win trophies and in the last years we've won a few.
"This season we want to go that one better."
