Kone himself looks set to stay put — wherever Wigan end up playing next season.
The former Levante, Seville and Eindhoven hitman insisted: “This is my first season in England after playing in Holland and Spain and the style is different.
“It’s not been easy to adapt but my job is to score goals and I have played to my maximum to achieve this.
“Roberto Martinez is a big coach. Not just in the footballing aspect but because of his contact with the players. I am very happy with him.
“My present — and future — is with Wigan. Now I’m only thinking about staying in the Premier League and am convinced we can do it.
“But I am happy to stay in English football.”
