Cardiff City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson has signed a new one-year contract.

The Iceland international, who has just been playing for his country at the World Cup, has made 260 appearances for Cardiff since joining them from Coventry in 2011.

“It's taken a little while, but it's definitely been worth the wait," Gunnarsson said.

“It was tough work to get back, ready to represent my country at the World Cup, and for Cardiff. Now, signing this deal has been my number one priority and I can't wait to meet back up with the boys."
