Arnesen quitting Chelsea post with dreams of Denmark job

Chelsea's outgoing director of football Frank Arnesen admits he is leaving his post at Stamford Bridge because he wants to get involved with the Denmark national team.

The former Denmark star midfielder will leave his role at the Blues at the end of the season and has alerted the Danish Football Association that he will be available to take over the top job when Morten Olsen's tenure finishes.

Olsen has been at the helm of the Danes for the last decade but will officially bow out of his role in June 2012, paving the way for Arnesen who is believed to have sensed some uncertainty at Chelsea.

Arnesen told a group of businessmen at a meeting in Denmark that he would indeed love to lead his national team as head coach.

"To be coach of your own national team would be very special,' he said. 'I cannot think of a higher honour," he said.
