Aberdeen midfielder Kari Arnason is set to depart the club in the summer after turning down a new contract.
The 29-year old Iceland international has been offered new terms by the Dons but has rejected their proposal and according to manager Craig Brown will be leave Pittodrie Stadium at the end of the season.
"If he doesn't accept the present deal then clearly he won't be here next season. I spoke to him and while he is happy here, he wants a bigger salary.
"But I'm sure the club will not change its present offer as this is the maximum we can afford. It's disappointing he's decided to leave but I have to accept it and concentrate now on finding a possible replacement.""I know Kari has rejected our offer and furthermore I know in my head he won't be here next season," said Brown.
