Kari Arnason has left the door ajar for an Aberdeen stay as he and the club try to reach an agreement over his contract.
The 29-year old Swedish-born Iceland international is out of contract in the summer after rejecting a new deal in January with indications that he will not be at the Pittodrie next season.
But Arnason, who joined the Dons after being released from Plymouth Argyle last July, says he is looking to remain with the club if a new deal can be arranged to suit both parties.
"I want to stay but on the other hand I am turning 30 this year and I'd wish to get a decent contract, because it's probably going to be my last chance of a good contract.
"I've always been open for them to come back to me. It's their decision at the end of the day, I can't force their hand.
"The clubs at the moment have all the power. You can only be at the opposite side of the table and negotiate when they want to negotiate. If they don't, there's nothing I can do.
"The deal they made me was very good at Aberdeen level, but that doesn't mean to say that's a very good contract, if you compare it to down south. It was kind of a letdown because I want to stay.""I've said all along I want to stay at the club. It's just a matter of reaching a conclusion in the negotiations," said Arnason.
