Argentine midfielder Fernando Screpis has revealed he's joining Hearts on a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old signed a short-term contract with feeder club Kaunas after spending pre-season with Hearts.

"I was approached in Buenos Aires by Hearts and they wanted to sign me," said Screpis.

"But, in Austria, Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov decided I could help Kaunas have a good Champions League run."

Screpis had been released by Defensores de Belgrano in the summer.

"I signed my contract with Hearts during pre-season in Austria, but I had already signed a pre-contract in Buenos Aires," he said.

"It runs from January 2008 until June 2011 and I'm looking forward to going to the club.

"It's very important for me to go to Hearts in January."
