Arsenal manager Wenger ready to let Ozil loose on Ostersunds

Arsene Wenger is ready to unleash his star player in the Europa League.

The Arsenal manager confirmed that Mesut Ozil will take part in their last-32 first leg clash with Ostersunds on Thursday night.

Ozil hasn't been included in one Europa League squad this season. But now that Arsenal's top-four hopes look bleak, they may need to rely on winning Europe's second tier competition to qualify for the Champions League.

And with Arsenal having the upcoming weekend off, Wenger has confirmed the 29-year-old will play in Sweden.

"He will play tomorrow," Wenger confirmed at his pre-match press conference. "We want to do well in this competition. We played on Saturday, we play tomorrow night.

"Over the weekend we have no game. So we have one week without competition. It's important our players keep at the competitive level.

"When you go in a competition it is to try to win it no matter where we are in the league. The pressure might be higher maybe but we try to go as far as we can. We go into direct knockout. We play a team who has come out of the group stage, so they are a good team."
