Arena expecting more from title-defending LA Galaxy side

Bruce Arena suggests his LA Galaxy side are showing decent form leading into the MLS playoffs.

The back-to-back MLS Cup champions find themselves fourth in the Western Conference with three matches remaining despite having won just one game from their past five.

Arena feels the performances of the Galaxy have been ok over the last two months but suggests there needs to be improvement during the business end of the 2013 campaign.

"Since the AC Milan exhibition (in the International Champions Cup in early August), we have a record of 7-2-3," said Arena.

"Twenty-five goals for, 10 against. We haven't played poorly. Have we played as well as we would have liked? No.

"For the most part we've been a pretty solid team over the last 12 games and we need to continue that in our next four games to close out the season, then hopefully we're in position to be in the playoffs and play well and position ourselves to defend our MLS Cup."

The Galaxy next take on Montreal Impact tonight at the StubHub Center ahead of their remaining regular season fixtures against San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders.
