England World Cup bid ambassador Ossie Ardiles says while everything is in place for a successful hosting, the nation's chances could be done in by FIFA politics.

The Tottenham legend said: "It is a great honour for me. England is my second home and I believe it is a wonderful bid.

"We don't want to sound arrogant, but everything is here - the stadiums, the transport and, very, very importantly, the people. They are incredibly fanatical.

"We must remember, though, that these things are political."
