Julio Arca is likely to leave English Championship club Middlesbrough as a free agent at the end of the season.
The 30-year old Argentine midfielder is out of contract at the end of the current season and with interest from Premier League clubs Wigan Athletic and Wolves, 'Boro boss Tony Mowbray is preparing himself for a summer departure.
"There's not a lot we can do. He was signed when we were in the Premier League, on Premier League wages and his contract is expiring at a level that is unsustainable for us," Mowbray said.
Arca is keen to return to the top flight after stints with Sunderland and then 'Boro when they were competing with the best before dropping to England's second tier.
