Former Spain coach Luis Aragones has been in contact with Villarreal.

Marca says Villarreal representatives have been in contact with Aragones this week as coach Ernesto Valverde struggles to reverse their form slide.

Aragones has knocked back the approach, however, as he has hopes of taking over from Carlos Queiroz as Portugal coach.
