Another stalemate for Liverpool and Everton

A goalkeeping error enabled Liverpool to snatch a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup at Anfield against Everton. Everton led at half-time through Joleon Lescott, but Steven Gerrard latched on to a Fernando Torres flick and fired a shot under Tim Howard to level matters after the break.

Dirk Kuyt and Torres had chances to prevent a replay as The Reds dominated the second period.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was disappointed not to have won the game.

"There was only one team trying to win and the other not wanting to lose.

"It was much better than the first game and it was just a pity we couldn't get a second goal.

"We dominated the game and controlled everything, but made the one mistake.

Everton came for a draw we tried to win. They had ten men behind the ball but I'm still really pleased with the performance.

The Spanish tactician admitted they still need to concentrate on set pieces.

"We can improve. We made one mistake and they scored but then Steven Gerrard scored against them again, that's football.

"We defended well against corners and free kicks but made the one mistake."
