Victor Anichebe admits Manchester United boss David Moyes had a say in his move to West Bromwich Albion.
The Nigeria striker chose to leave Everton after Moyes' departure.
He said: "The West Brom gaffer Steve Clarke told me he spoke to David Moyes before I came here and they had a good chat.
"I felt after a good latter stage of the season maybe I should go somewhere else for a fresh start - and I chose West Brom.
"But the love I have for Everton will never go. They're the ones that gave me the chance to have the career I have today. I'm proud to be an Evertonian.
"But now is a new chapter in my life and I've come here to show what I can do.
"Everton is my team. I love Everton, so for me to leave there had to be some sort of reason and connection - and I felt a connection to West Brom."
