Angry Puel unsatisfied with Southampton loss at Hull

Claude Puel admitted his Southampton side were well below their best at Hull City on Sunday.

The Saints were beaten 2-1 by the Tigers despite taking an early lead through Charlie Austin's penalty.

Second-half goals in quick succession from Robert Snodgrass and Michael Dawson saw the south coast club come away from their trip to Humberside empty-handed, which visibly annoyed Frenchman Puel.

"We can do many good things. We can show very good football, good intensity and good quality," he said.

"After all these games, we don't have all the points that I think we deserve. This for me is the truth, but I'm not satisfied with this game.

"We have lost different points after very good games at home or away, against great teams, but this for me was different. We must do better to control this game and to take the good points.

"We have a young team. It is the first time this season that all the squad can play every three days. It's very difficult, with international games also, because we have many, many international players. It's a good thing, but they don't recover.

"But it's important to learn and I think we learned a game is never finished and it's important to keep all the time the good concentration and to give the good answer. I think we lacked the good concentration for this game and it's a pity. We are angry."

The result saw the Saints drop to 10th place on the Premier League table on the back of a three-game winless run.
