Tottenham are regarded as favourites for Shanghai Shenhua striker Nicolas Anelka. The Daily Mail says West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce is understood to have spoken to his advisors and is keen to a deal but the expense will be the main obstacle. Anelka will take a pay cut but much may depend on what Shanghai ask for a fee.
Tottenham are a more attractive option for Anelka and Harry Redknapp is a fan but Daniel Levy would be reluctant to pay too much for a 33-year-old.
