Aston Villa legend Andy Gray says Gabby Agbonlahor shouldn't be club captain.

Agbonlahor has been taking on the armband in the absence of injury-hit Ron Vlaar.

Gray is quoted by the Birmingham Mail: "I don't know where the leadership comes from, that's what worries me as well.

"I look around the team. I wonder without Ron Vlaar in there. where does the leadership come from?

"I don't see Gabby Agbonlahor as captain, I'm sorry, I don't. You lead because you're a leader of men, which he's not. Or you lead with your performances. on the pitch and he hasn't done that for me.

"I don't see that captain as been the leader that Villa need - at all.

"I think we're a little short in that department on the pitch. Genuine leaders who will stand up, be counted and go from there."
