Barnsley have confirmed they have failed in their bid to extend Everton midfielder Anderson De Silva's loan spell at Oakwell.

Tykes boss Simon Davey was hoping the Premier League club would agree to extend the Brazilian's loan for a second time, but the 25-year-old has expressed a desire to fight for his place at Goodison Park.

De Silva made nine appearances for the Championship outfit after first arriving in south Yorkshire back in August.
