Benfica are making a deal for Manchester United midfielder Anderson a priority. Record says a swap involving Nicolas Gaitan going to United in exchange for cash and the loan of Anderson and Fabio da Silva is now being actively discussed.

The deal would satisfy Benfica, particularly if United are prepared to cover 50 per cent of Anderson's wages next season.

The Brazilian is open to the deal and negotiations have rumbled on positively since his name was put forward.
