Anderlecht in no mood to sell Newcastle target Mitrovic

Anderlecht have dealt a huge blow to Newcastle United's hopes of signing Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation at St. James' Park, it has not stopped Newcastle being linked with a host of players and recently reports had emerged claiming that the Magpies were eyeing a swoop for Serbian wonderkid Aleksandar Mitrovic to ease their woes in front of goal.

However, Anderlecht have denied Newcastle's hopes by categorically stating that the striker is not for sale this summer.

Addressing the 20-year old's future, Anderlecht general manager Herman van Holsbeeck said: "At 20, Mitrovic has scored 20 league goals this season. He scored against Arsenal, Dortmund and has also played for Serbia. This is a striker who you know can improve a side.

"Therefore, we have decided against selling him. Mitro is aware and he wants to stay."
